Aloha and Welcome to Full On Pidgin.
We hope you will enjoy all of the NEW
features we have added.
FULL ON PIDGIN is dedicated to those who want to feel the
essence of true Hawaii. Pidgin here in Hawaii is a sort
of Hawaiian Slang-lish and not the Pidgin language spoken
in the deep south Pacific Islands. A culture lies behind
Hawaiian Pidgin. It seems to rub off on those who stay
for any length of time. There are many, especially in the
country areas and outer islands that only talk "da
kine" true Hawaiian Pidgin. It is peppered with
Hawaiian words. For a mainlander it can be a real
challenge to understand, but for those who live here, it
is a part of island life. Reading the printed Hawaiian
Pidgin, there are many accents and a type of lilt or tone
that are applied to most words. The spelling is meant to
capture the pronunciation.
Here at FULL ON PIDGIN, you not only get to
read Pidgin but
you get to HEAR what it sounds like!
