HIDEAWAY'S BEACH
Kauai

There’s a reason for it’s name, HIDEAWAY’S BEACH. Hidden and secret is how we describe one of our favorite beaches on Kauai’s lush north shore. Very seldom does one ever see another soul. Maybe an occasional surfer paddling out for the top-to-bottom surf about a quarter mile out. This small stretch of seclusion can be discovered only by hardy explorers.

TRAIL HEAD HIDEAWAY'S BEACH
Hideaway Beach

The steep trail head makes for a spectacular view of the north shore coast line. During whale season, this natural observation deck is a great vantage point. If your time allows to soak in the atmosphere, you will never been disappointed with the natural entertainment. This seems to be a favorite hang-out for the local turtles. They can be easily spotted because the pristine aqua colored water over the reef seems to be a good contrast to the sea turtles’ shell.

How do you find this, only in your dreams, beach? On Kauai’s North Shore in the resort town of Princeville. You can find the trail head at the far corner of the Princeville Hotel’s public parking area. Enjoy!

Extreme’s Safety Tips:
Since the trail is not paved, heavy rains can severely change the conditions. The trail can become muddy and very slippery. It is best attempted on a sunny day.

Although this cove is protected by reef, check the surf. Large surf, 10 ft. or more, can wash the beach away in the winter. It’s hard to believe when you see it on a calm day.

This is a great spot for exceptional snorkeling, swimming, sun bathing or a private romantic picnic. Be careful of rip currents during winter months.

Don’t forget your camera! Hideaway's Beach might be just a small stretch of white sand tucked against the jungle cliff, but this is a place you will want to remember for years to come.
